Updike was adopted last weekend! His new mom si a very nice lady named Mary Kay who has adopted two dogs from Harnessed to Hope! One is Ezra, another Siberian Husky. She adopted Bear last year, a senior American Eskimo, who passed away recently. Mary Kay thought that Ezra needed a play mate, and he and Updike hit it off!

I love the northern breeds. When my wife and I were first married, we had a Muskey/Alsatian mix named "Druschka." She was a sweetie and slept with us. When our oldest was born, I was worried about how she, the dog, would react. But she would sit next to the cradle and push it with her nose when the baby cried.
In college, I had a backpacking buddy who owned two Samoyeds. We'd be out in the weeds and those two dogs would patrol a perimeter all night. I felt very safe.
